Vinayaka Chaturthi


The day when Lord Ganesha or Vinayak was born is celebrated as Vinayak Chaturthi. The festival is celebrated with pious devotion and passion. Every year the largest Ganesha idols are set up by many committees and associations of korutla and worshiped for 9 days. On the 10th day of celebration, processions from all through the korutla and surrounding villages congregate at Korutla College Grounds. And prizes are distributed by municipality to the committees and associations who set up Ganesha idols for decorations and their message to the people by that decoration, The ten-day Ganesha festival winds up with the submerging of Ganesha idols in Sai Rama River.

The day when Goddess Durga killed devil Mahishasura is celebrated as Dasara, This Festival is celebrated by korutla people with much passion and zest, On this special day people of korutla staying in different places come their festivalstown, and celebrate this festival with their family, all people wear new clothes and Gents go to “Jambi dais” along with the “shava” which comes from the temple of lord venkateshwara along with the idol of lord, people collect and distribute the leaves of tree called “Jambi”, and all people visit temples and offer prayers, The most enthusiastic are the youth, who wait for the killing program of mahishasura, which is exploration of idol made up of crackers. Every year the Durga idols are set up by few committees and of korutla and worshiped for 9 days, Special programs are conducted at Koti Navadurga temple for 9 days, festival winds up with the submerging of Durga idols in Sai Rama River.
